MFT3K Photos #6: Filming Episode 3
Episode 3 happened in new studios, and was filmed between August 2002 (theater) and December 2002 (host segments).
Lee employs cunning techniques to keep Adam's mic from escaping. Remember kids, never duct tape your friends unless they give you explicit permission.

The control room, with a convenient built-in kitchen, and a clear view of the living roo-- uhh, studio.

Final setup for theater filming. The performers get the movie audio through their headphones, and watch the timecode-burned movie on the two monitors at their feet. (There's not enough space between the chairs and the wall for all three of them to see the same monitor.) The seat backs are added in digitally in post, so Adam and Brian attempt to keep their heads and hands behind where the seats would be on screen.

In between filmings, the performers get their sing on. Pre-recording "Star Crashin'" to allow lip-syncing when filming. Musical Director Beth is half-visible to the left debating outsourcing the song to Abba or Menudo instead.

A little emergency Crow surgery. It turned out to be a benign growth that required a mostly painless eyeballectomy.

Repairing the toaster prop. During filming the toaster actually did melt Mike's copy of Invasion from Inner Earth, something for which Mike seemed strangely not heartbroken.

Decorating the set for one of the sketches. Most of us adored the giant neon-colored plush fish, even though it didn't look like much on camera.
