This is the first set of production photos, taken in June 2000.
Our first hex! We begin the first two-by-four framing needed for the SOL set. At this point, we were delighted by our ability to join six pieces of lumber symetrically.

This photo was taken during the crucial phase of set construction known as "attempting to injure ourselves with hammers".

The frame for the SOL's main door is being assembled.

Mike gets high on the set, attaching the braces to one of the inclined hex panels.
The framework for the set is well underway and one of the completed hex panels
has been hoisted into position.

People do bizarre things when confronted by a camera, as this impromptu rendition of "comedy & tragedy" proves. We promise that no
illegal drugs were involved.

Alex helps get ready for the texturing of the set by breaking down toys and cheap plastic items. Here, he is attempting to saw through Snoopy's head. (Not an activity we'd recommend under normal circumstances.)
Beth sweeps up after one of our construction sessions. In the background, one of the hallway doors is being fitted against the framing.
It's all about quality craftsmanship, here at MFT Industries! Our door runners are hand-carved by Mike from imported aluminum bar stock.
The completed structure of the SOL set! From this point, we need to attach numerous small plastic items, paint it all gray, and then add the trim pieces.
